first mobile phoneApril 3, 1973 – First ever mobile telephone call made by Dr. Martin Cooper from Motorola.

The prototype handheld phone used by Dr. Cooper weighed 1.1 kg and measured 23 cm long, 13 cm deep and 4.45 cm wide. The prototype offered a talk time of just 30 minutes and took 10 hours to re-charge.

World Wide Web

first website

August 6, 1991 – The first ever website made by the World Wide Web's creator Tim Berners-Lee who was working for CERN (European Organisation for Nuclear Research) – the actual internet started as a communication system by the US military.

The inventor of the World Wide Web and one of Time Magazine’s ‘100 Most Important People of the 20th Century’, Sir Tim Berners-Lee is a scientist and academic whose visionary and innovative work has transformed almost every aspect of our lives.

Larry Page and Sergey BrinSeptember 4, 1998 – Google set up their first workspace operating in a garage on Santa Margarita Ave, Menlo Park, CA by Larry Page and Sergey Brin

Larry Page and Sergey Brin founded Google in September 1998. Since then, the company has grown to more than 40,000 employees worldwide, with a management team that represents some of the most experienced technology professionals in the industry.

Facebook FoundersFebruary 4, 2004 – Facebook online social networking site started by Mark Zuckerberg and his Harvard College roomates. 

The founders had initially limited the website's membership to Harvard students, but later expanded it to colleges in the Boston area, the Ivy League, and Stanford University.

It gradually added support for students at various other universities and later to high-school students. Since 2006, anyone who is at least 13 years old was allowed to become a registered user of the website.

The popular social networking site derived its name from Facebook, a directory that is found in American Universities. This directory is like a reference book for many and consists of photographs of the staff, faculty and students with their brief bio data mentioned in it.

YouTube FoundersFebruary 14, 2005 – YouTube video sharing website started by former PayPal employees Chad Hurley, Steve Chen and Jawed Karim. YouTube's early headquarters were situated above a pizzeria and Japanese restaurant in San Mateo, California.

 The first YouTube video was titled “Me at the Zoo” and shows co-founder Jawed Karim at the San Diego Zoo. The video was uploaded on April 23, 2005, and can still be viewed on the site.
